Follow up to “garbage in garbage out”

Yes! Thanks to the developer’s motivation, I finally managed to get the codec working!  Yes. I feel so relieved now. Though I’m still far from completing my task, but I’ve overcome a HUGE hurdle!

Now I can really go and enjoy my long weekend.

I got “suan” by a developer!

Note: “suan” is a dialect word for criticised sarcastically.

For quite some time, I’m stucked in a technical problem regarding the use of some codec. So I posted my queries in the interest group. Here’s what I asked and followed by a reply.

ME: … the input type is xxx.

Reply: Where in the manual does it say that xxx is a valid input?

ME: My input fluctuates between x and y but the decoded output ranged from A to B. Is my output expected?

Reply:  Yes. Based on the “garbage in, garbage out” principle.

Nightmare

I had the worst nightmare last night. It was so disturbing. It was filled with my most fearful pest… lizards!

Lots of them. Scattered around the floor, many of them left their tails wriggling on the floor. I just cannot stand those skin-coloured, naked(because they do not have fur), rubberish pest.

Oh no… my hair is standing again… Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…………. Yaks…………………………..

“The Last Name” is superb

The same cast. But this time with more characters, another 死神 (shinigami), Kira 2nd and Kira the 3rd. For someone who had not read the manga like myself, I find the part where Yagami Light tried to find Kira rather strange. I was wondering why he need to think so hard when he already knew who’s the 3rd Kira is. Of course, the movie explained everything when they arrested the 3rd Kira. By the way, 死神の目 is really scary…

I cried at the part when L sacrificed his life to prove that Light is Kira, especially when Light’s father saluted to him before he died. In the movie, it is Ryuk who wrote the last name, which is … Light!

Merry Christmas to all!

This is how I spent my long weekend…

With 3 other friends, known as my official mahjong kahkis, we played throughout the night till 5.30am. Although my boyfriend and I lost close to 30 dollars to the other 2, we had a great night.

I would like to …

- thank my dear dear, he bought me a very cute polar bear wearing a red and orange scarf although we agreed not to give each other presents for christmas.

- thank Theresa for buying me a nice white purse.

- thank zf who bought me a nice card holder and a keychain with the mahjong tile “北”.  (haha, he must have bought the “发” (which means fortune and luck in chinese) for himself since he won around $15 dollars yesterday)

- congrats berowl for passing his exams and furthermore attaining such impressive results.

- wish everyone Merry Christmas and may you receive many presents!

Death Note Movie – The Last Name

Can’t wait to see the movie part II, especially when I read on the newspapers that the ending in the movie is different from the manga. (I thought that is a very smart move of the director) I wonder who will win in the movie… I wonder if L will die…

Although it was long screened in Japan, but in Singapore, it will only be out next Thurs.  7 more days…

Awaken by …

This morning, around 4.40am, I was awaken not by thunder but the howling wind. I’m not a light sleeper, so you can imagine how loud the sound was. It’s quite scary. It’s as though the wind has a spirit and is approaching fast! The strong wind was pounding furiously at my windows. I dun remember experiencing such strong monsoon wind in the past. The climate is really changing…

The holidays are coming … but my deadline too

My project dateline is 2nd week of January and I have 2 application yet to be done. As my PM said, get prepared for OT. Sigh… with all the festive moods, I felt lethargic. Especially today, out of 16 people, only 3 people are in the office. People are busy clearing their leaves. Hmm… my mood might be caused by the rain. The downpour since yesterday makes the weather perfect for sleeping at home.

Ok, enough of whines and complaints. Going back to work.

Eragon

Watched the movie Eragon last night.

The computer graphics are solid. Scenery is spectacular, especially the scene when Eragon and Brom ride across the mountain. However the fighting scenes are not as good as I expected, probably because I went in with a high expectation. Probably due to time constraint, I felt that Eragon developed his skills and learnt magic too soon. All of a sudden Saphira(the dragon) gained enough power to emit flames and Eragon is able to ride on her tail to kill the sorcerer.

But on the whole, it’s still an enjoyable show to watch. Happy ending =>

At the top of his fingertips

Impressive. Really impressive.  He knows everything at the top of his finger tips.

I’m attending some technical training this week and my instructor is the only representative sent here. He is really capable to  handle all our technical questions and doubts and debug our systems on the spot. He has to handle around 14 of us. All engineers, specialised in different area, from C/C++ on power pc and dsp to VHDL. He can even tell you which directory a particular system file is located immediately. Just by looking at the debug messages, he has an idea how to solve the problem. I would be really stressful if I were him. Many pairs of eyes looking at you debugging the system and the intense pressure on you to solve the problem on the spot.

Btw, he’s very young, working experience is around 4.5 years.
