The popular manga “Death Note” now has movie, coming 19 Oct. Went to their site and was quite impressed with their design. Would definitely read the manga if I can afford the time.

I smell something burning…

Oh no… I just burnt an expensive in-house developed hardware.

I was supposed to test the function but when I on the power, it does not show any response. (No LEDs light up) Then when I went closer to change power supply, I smell an unmistakable burning smell.

ME: “Did you smell something burning?”

My colleague: “YES!”

Then they gathered around the table and sniffed around for the exact piece of hardware that’s producing the smell.

Oh no… I hope it’s only the power supply that’s burnt…

Busy week

This Sat, I will be going to Vancouver for a one week training. As a result, I’ve to makeup 2 lesson for my student, since she’s having her exams right after I come back. 2 tuition + 2 Master course + 1 organ lesson in the evening practically leaves me with no free time.  So glad that it was term break in NUS next week, at least I will not miss any lesson.

Anyway, I had an interesting experience yesterday. Was challenged technically by 2 firmware engineers. They are really good in Interrupts, ISR, stacks, Semaphores and RTOS. I learnt a lot from them! At the same time, I realised that there’s so much more about C that I don’t know…I’ve got to polish up. (Quote from Ryoma: まだまだだね。。。）

最近我的同事从上海回来，买了不少的DVDs. 她看完了就借给了我。有3部连续剧啊！

本来不想开始，但在妈妈的诱惑下，还是看了。

你可能不知道，我的第一偶像是张智霖！所以就先看了澳门街。

果然。。。 好帅啊。。。

xxxHOLiC Manga getting exciting!

Despite the fact that I am very busy recently, I finally managed to find time to read vol 6 this morning, on the train ride. Guess what! I’m finally ahead of the anime. And that’s when the excitement and suspense pick up.

Was totally absorbed into the story (that I ignored my boyfriend). Nice and touching story. (Although it always ended up with Doumeki saving Watanuki.) Ha, but I like it.

xxxHOLiC ep 20 – Atonement

A rather eerie episode.

A photograph that can show moving scenes… It moved even though Yuuko kept it in a spirit sealed frame.

The photo belonged to a murderer and the scenes that the photo displayed is the time at which the murder took place.

The murderer is the client. And Yuuko agreed to help her get rid of this photo, but in return the client cannot allow herself to appear in front of camera, TV and video cam which is impossible unless she locked herself in the house. The theme: The burden of taking someone’s life is very heavy.

Ouran Host Club ep 21 – Halloween

Finally found time to watch anime. Ep 21 was about the chapter on courage test. The anime added something about the carriage and pumpkin which is not in the manga. Till now, I still could not understand what is the significance of the carriage and pumpkin. Anyway, the theme of this episode is about Kaoru and Hikaru (the twins). Kaoru felt that Hikaru and Haruhi will become more than friends but apparently Hikaru’s mind has only Kaoru.

Meanwhile, Tamaki and the other Host Club seniors played a trick on Kaoru, Hikaru and Haruhi. Hikaru and Haruhi were caught in the net.

Have to upgrade my time-management skills

Was feeling really stressed yesterday, after my project partner called me and informed that he had sent me the draft for assignment. What! We just got our assignment on wed and he sent me his answers on thurs afternoon! Apparently he was quite free in office that day…

To me, this assignment is quite tough, I read the questions >5 times before attempting to do it. Stress was mounting up as I’ve got organ lessons today and thus should practise it. So the more time I spent on looking at my assignment, the more stress I was, thinking that I’ve got no time for organ. Luckily, my boyfriend called and started giving me a talk on time management. I felt quite irritated and upset at first because I used to be very proud of my time-management skills. But he’ve got some reasonable points.

1. My partner follows his own schedule and I should follow my own schedule. My schedule was to practise organ on Thurs night and do assignment on Fri night.

2. So I should go practise organ first and come back to do my assignment if I got the time. By doing that, I’m actually ahead of my schedule.

Nowadays, time is gold. Since project discussion falls on weekends, I’m supposed to do the assignments by Friday/Sat night. That means I only have the few hours after work to do them. (minus away the 2 days which I have classes until 830pm and reached home at 10pm)
Yesterday I felt like taking leave today to settle everything, but that is like using credit card, “using future money” according to my boyfriend. I’m using time which I’m not supposed to have. I thought this is a nice analogy.

I’ve started learning maximizing my time, in particularly travelling time. Glad to say, I managed to do 2 questions during my train ride to office, standing.

Manga falling behind anime

Hmm… Strange phenomenon.Ouran Manga vol 9 has not come out for more than 1 month and xxxHOLiC vol 9 too!

Read from some blog about Ouran ep 23 and found that it was adopted from chapters in vol 8, which is where I stopped as well. I know the anime is ending soon, but I hope the manga will continue.

As for HOLiC, it was really wierd. People are reading chapter 117 and here we only have vol. 8…

But then again, I’ve got no time to read them!

RSP Elders Alumni-万歳！

Picture taken last saturday when I organised a mini get-together at the old folks home where we volunteered during our under-graduate life. That day is the first session for the 2006 freshies. (I am the 2001 batch lor…)

Ha ha. Our presence either gave the new coordinator a big encouragement or pressure. Anyway, I always felt so happy when I go back. Most of the elders still remembers us and I had a good time chatting and catching up with them. Of course, the sad thing is everytime I go back, I will hear some bad news.

Monday Blues

Having a serious Monday blues today…

Every weekend is no longer a weekend. It has became project discussion and report typing days. I’m taking 2 modules this semester, and one of them has very heavy workload. In a group of 2, we have to submit an assignment every week. Discussion takes 4 hours, typing the answers takes another 5-6 hours. Next week will be worse. We need to submit a write up for a case study for the other module. No… Not enough time.

How is it possible to take 3 modules in a semester? I wonder how…
